Meet Your Instructor

Lorraine Lam — CSIA Level 3 Ski Instructor and Trainer

Lorraine is a ski and snowboard instructor from Hong Kong and has more than 15 snowsports seasons of teaching experience. She began focusing seriously on skiing in New Zealand in 2022 and earned her Level 2 certification. She started preparing for Level 3 in January 2024, passed in March 2025, and earned her CSIA Trainer qualification later that year.

Lorraine knows what it is like to build advanced skills without an early start or exceptional natural athletic ability. She invested heavily in learning from great trainers to make up for gaps in experience and time on snow. Along the way, she trained with instructors including Reilly McGlashanz, Geri Tumbasz, Josh Foster, MC Baron, Jamie Jack, Betsy Linnell, Guy Dale, Wil Comrie and Katsutomo Ishimizu.

Her coaching style is clear and direct. She helps skiers understand why a movement works, improve specific issues in their skiing, and develop the ability to assess and improve their own performance. Having learned from instructors across different systems, she draws on a range of approaches to explain and teach technique.

Lorraine began her career as a snowboard instructor and still teaches snowboarding. She understands the challenges snowboard instructors face when learning to ski and is especially well placed to help instructors who teach both disciplines.

Who Is This Camp For?

This camp is designed for:

  • Level 1 instructors from different certification systems who want to understand Level 2 exam tasks and how to prepare for them
  • Skiers who want an honest assessment of how close they are to Level 2
  • Instructors with teaching experience who want to improve their skiing, demonstrations, and teaching
  • Participants who have already taken a Level 2 course or assessment and want to work on specific weaknesses
  • Instructors planning to take a Level 2 course in Japan, Canada, or elsewhere who want a clearer training plan before they go
  • Skiers whose ability is beyond Level 1 and who want to develop short turns, bumps, and stronger overall performance
  • People who want specific, personal feedback rather than simply following drills in a group

I hold a Level 1 certification from another system. Can I apply?

Yes. Please send us your certificate and a recent video of your skiing. We’ll review your experience and confirm whether this camp is a good fit. This is an advanced training camp, not a beginner ski course.
